Caren Bright, CEO/Founder CarenBright@pamperlakehighlands.org

Through her faith in the Lord, Caren has overcome homelessness, domestic abuse, and extreme poverty. She began Pamper Lake Highlands in response to the Lord’s call to minister to local, low-income women. The ministry started with diaper distribution and has grown tremendously to include a variety of classes for both women and children, counseling, and other services.

Caren is also an author and tells her amazing life story and walk with the Lord in her book, 50 Dates with the Lord.

Accounting Director, Jill Johnson accounting@pamperlakehighlands.org

Jill was raised in Arkansas but moved here after college. She has been married to Carlton since 2008 and they have two daughters, Charlotte and Claire.

Jill stayed at home for 7 years before joining PLH as the executive assistant. She has since embraced the responsibility of handling PLH’s finances and donor management as the Accounting Director.

Family Advocacy Director, Cindy Engel familyservices@pamperlakehighlands.org

Cindy is former Spanish/math teacher and technical writer who took more than a decade off from regular employment to stay at home with her young children.  Her community volunteer jobs include teaching ESL for PLH since its inception and working on the website.   Cindy's passions include helping others, using her Spanish, and caring for Creation. She often rides her bike or walks around Lake Highlands instead of driving and dedicates time to organizing community recycling events.

Cindy works with our adult students to make sure they are receiving needed services, promotes community among our students, and plans community events.

Learning Center Director, Yaneth Lopez

Yaneth grew up in Lake Highlands,  graduating from Lake Highlands High School and attending Richland College. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has a baby girl.  After high school in 2015, this amazing community took her in with kindness. She volunteered at PLH, translating Bible study and helping in the childcare. She was also a respite care provider for many LH families that were going through a health crisis. In 2017, she moved to San Diego, where she worked as a behavioral therapist for children with Autism.

Yaneth remembers not being able to participate in Pre-K and doing her best to learn English in Kindergarten so she could translate for her family. Her  amazing childhood teachers inspired her and planted a love for early childhood education. It is her goal to help our PLH children grow socially, emotionally and academically to prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond.  She works with our teachers to help them be their best through training and experience.

Program Director, Ghazaleh Gonzalez programdirector@pamperlakehighlands.org

“Ghaz” has been an educator since 2004 and her passion has always been helping students learn English. She spoke no English until second grade, and she still remembers how helpless she felt and how empowering it was once she grasped command of the English language. Ghazaleh’s goal is to track progress and growth with each of our students to ensure our ESL, high school equivalency, and other programs are effective and to help our adult students reach their full potential.

Visitor Care Director, Yazmin Gonzalez visitorcare@pamperlakehighlands.org

Yazmin and her husband both grew up in Lake Highlands, graduating from Lake Highlands High School.  They have four children, two boys and two girls.  Yazmin met our director, Caren Bright, when she was 10 years old.  When Caren started Pamper Lake Highlands, Yazmin came on board as a volunteer and has been a faithful contributor ever since.

As Visitor Care Director, Yazmin coordinates with our external volunteers and manages our donations of diapers and other items.  She also serves as an  English/Spanish translator.
